Blondes' sis: Essex Girl

Essex girl is a local version of the dumb-blonde stereotype which is characteristic of the UK specific area – Essex. So, Essex girl – the so-called dumb blonde's sister – is a youthful working class gal who can 'boast' highly unsophisticated outlook and vulgar manners.

The stereotype about Essex girl says that she is a vivid variation of a blond bimbo stereotype surrounded by such peculiar realia and traits as Estuary English accent, loud vulgar speech, freewheeling view on human relations, group 'attacks' at the nightclubs having fun being the attackers' ultimately blond goal.

Essex girl wears white stiletto heels, has peroxide blond hair. According to Time magazine description, she is a 'lady from London's eastern suburbs who dresses in white strappy sandals and suntan oil, streaks her hair blond, has command of Spanish that runs only to the word Ibiza' – a creative description of localized features of a universally stereotypical dumb blond.

Essex girl usually drinks extremely strong cider called Diamond White, and the drink turns her into a shouting and swearing scarcely-lady. She laughs her head off over the Essex girl jokes which are very similar to the dumb-blonde ones regarding their essence, although the former ones are often more sexually-inclined.

BBC sitcom called Birds of a Feather represents two typical Essex girls – Sharon and Tracey. The former image and style of Victoria Beckham – Posh Spice – is said to have been a perfect personification of the Essex-Girl phenomenon.
